In early March, the Action Floors team will be headed to the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association’s 2018 Conference in La Jolla, California to support and share in topics surrounding the maple flooring industry. The MFMA conference brings together experts to discuss trends and issues while providing opportunities to grow and evolve together as an industry.
Join us at some of the can’t-miss sessions were looking most forward to at the conference.
1. Hazardous materials that can make installs unsafe
We’ll be listening to Bill Freemen’s presentation, “Flooring Projects and Hazardous Materials – Expect the Unexpected,” on Thursday, March 1 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. It will address the unexpected presence of harmful materials like asbestos, mold, lead and mercury in flooring renovations. The session will discuss factors that impact indoor air quality and the proper steps that need to be taken during planning stages of the project to mitigate risk.
Before the conference, read up on how indoor air quality from building materials can affect people not only during, but well after installation is complete.
2. Getting insightful with Bill Rancic
Join us on Thursday, March 1 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. as we listen to keynote speaker Bill Rancic. Known originally from NBC’s Apprentice, Rancic is now a motivational speaker, restauranteur, entrepreneur, TV host and author, and has spoken to leaders all over the globe on topics addressing leadership, business success and change.
3. Staining and tinting maple floors
While using different grades of maple to achieve unique color variations is certainly our preferred way to go when it comes to sports floors, staining and tinting is an option as well. Join us as we listen in on this panel discussion on Friday, March 2 from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. as industry members discuss best practices for staining and tinting maple.
While you’re thinking about this, view our gallery to see projects that have used different grades of maple as well as a variety of stain applications to create unique and impressive courts.
4. Collecting your earnings after an installation
We’re eager to listen in on “Collecting Your Money” by Dave Byrnes on Friday, March 2 from 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. as he and the MFMA legal counsel discuss tools and incentives that ensure general contractors, construction managers and owners are making timely payments. Insights on these legal issues can hopefully help make delayed payments a thing of the past.
5. Open discussion on installation issues and best practices
Sometimes the best part about attending conferences is hearing how peers solved problems similar to yours. From 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, MFMA will be hosting an installation forum breakout session that separates attendees into groups based on installation issues that need to be addressed. Group members will discuss issues, learnings and solutions with each other to determine best practices and ways to solve problems.
